Zoe Davison trains a both flat and jumps horses with her husband Andy Irvine from their yard, just outside of East Grinstead in Sussex. The equine team at Shovelstrode Stud Racing Stables is increasing in quality year on year. Their location is ideal to take advantage year round of the wide array of turf and all-weather courses in the south-east of England. Zoe had a remarkable 2017/18 season, when the stable enjoyed a 25% strike rate and a plus £53.50 to a £ level stake!
The stable is a family affair with daughter Gemma Gracey-Davison also being very much involved. Winning a total of 27 races her carrier in the saddle was sadly cut short due to injury, she now continues her love affair with the sport as Assistant Trainer.
In recent years Zoe has trained such durable area stalwarts as Frank N Fair, Sherjawy and Just Beware, then going back slightly further, Spider Boy, who was cut from the same cloth. Finnegan’s Garden has been a revelation for the yard recently, his win at Plumpton on the 11th February was his tenth success and his fourth at Plumpton.
We have one horse in training with Zoe, Glorious Boru. Boru has run some great valiant races for us and we feel is not far away from troubling the judge. Glorious Boru ran a fantastic second at Warwick in February, on ground that he was less than totally in love with. However, he lost by just a couple of lengths and took a huge step back in the right direction.
Zoe, Andy, Gemma and all of the team at Shovelstrode Stud always make Owners feel very welcome. They are happy for you to join them at any time to see your horses on the gallops.
